- Award level is based on grade level for the 2026-2027 school year.

- All 4-H members applying for awards may be asked for support of any choices listed.
- Online applications due dates will be announced in April 2027.
- Record Books

- Required for the Bronze Star, Silver Star, Gold Star, and I Dare You Awards.
- Award Interviews:
- Award Interview Schedule will be announced in late May or early June 2027. Interviews will be held at the Milam County Extension Office.
- This Interview is required for those applying for Bronze Star, Silver Star, Gold Star, and I Dare You Awards.
- Virtual interviews with the judges must be approved ahead of time by the County Extension Agents.
- Thank You Notes: If you receive any awards outlined on this page, you are required to turn in a Thank You Note to the Sponsor of each award. They must be turned in to the Extension Office by NO LATER THAN OCTOBER 1st. Failure to do so could result in being barred from future awards, and may prevent entry to many contests. Sponsors have graciously donated money, labor, and supplies that allow us to celebrate the accomplishments of all our 4-H Members. Thanking the sponsors who have helped us is very important.
- Criteria Awards: These awards are given to each and every 4-H Member who meets the criteria set for the award. See THIS PAGE the criteria list of each award.
- Jacket Award: First time 1st Place STATE winners are awarded a 4-H Jacket, if you apply. See details of eligibility at the bottom of this page.
- Star Awards (Bronze, Silver, Gold, I Dare You): These awards determined by a panel of judges and eligibility is based on grade level: Bronze (Junior level), Silver (Intermediate Level), Gold and I Dare You (Senior Level). Requirements include a completed Record Book and an interview with the panel of judges.

We began using an online application last year, while still allowing paper copies to be turned in. This year we will only be offering online application submission. Links will appear below as soon as the opening dates are announced. Online applications must be turned in by 11:59pm on the due date.
ONLINE AWARD APPLICATIONS
BY 4-H LEVEL
Rookie Award – 4-H Members from 3rd Grade through 12th Grade
- 2026 Rookie Award Form – First-year 4-H Members, Juniors, Intermediates, and Seniors are eligible. Eligibility is only for the first year that a member is active, between the levels of 3rd grade and 12th grade.
Beginner/Cloverbud Award – 4-H Members in Kindergarten, 1st Grade, and 2nd Grade
- 2026 Clover Award Form – Eligible to apply each year they are in this age bracket and active in 4-H. Requirements must be completed during the application year
Junior Awards – 4-H Members in 3rd Grade, 4th Grade, and 5th Grade
- 2026 Honor Roll Award Form – Eligible to apply each year they are in this age bracket and active in 4-H. Requirements must be completed during the application year
- 2026 Bronze Star Award Form – Eligible during any of the three years they are in this age bracket and active in 4-H, but can only receive the award once. An interview with a panel of judges and a completed Record Book are required, to be considered for this award.
Intermediate Awards – 4-H Members in 6th Grade, 7th Grade, and 8th Grade
- 2026 All Star Award Form – Eligible to apply each year they are in this age bracket and active in 4-H. Requirements must be completed during the application year
- 2026 Silver Star Award Form – Eligible during any of the three years they are in this age bracket and active in 4-H, but can only receive the award once. An interview with a panel of judges and a completed Record Book are required, to be considered for this award.
Senior Awards – 4-H Members in 9th Grade, 10th Grade, 11th Grade, and 12th Grade
- 2026 Letterman Award Form – Eligible for active 4-H Members who have completed the 9th, 10th or 11th grade. Application can be made during any of the three years, but the Award can only be received once. Requirements may be completed during any of the Member’s active 9th, 10th, or 11th grade years.
- 2026 Senior Award Form – Eligible for active 4-H Members who will be graduating in 2027. Requirements may be completed during any of the Member’s active 9th, 10th, or 11th grade years.
- 2026 I Dare You Award Form – Eligible for active 4-H Members who have completed the 9th, 10th, or 11th grade. Application can be made during any of the three years, but the Award can only be received once. An interview with a panel of judges and a completed Record Book are required, to be considered for this award.
- 2026 Gold Star Award Form – Eligible for active 4-H Members who have completed the 9th, 10th, or 11th grade. Application can be made during any of the three years, but the Award can only be received once. An interview with a panel of judges and a completed Record Book are required, to be considered for this award.
4-H Jacket Award
The Milam County 4-H program has for many years awarded 1st time – 1st Place STATE winners with a 4-H Jacket. If awarded a Jacket, the 4-H Member will be recognized at the 4-H Award Ceremony with their sponsor.
DEADLINE TO APPLY: Application/Order Form must be turned in to the Extension Office by Due Date 2027.
How to Qualify for a Milam County 4-H Jacket: A Milam County 4-H member is eligible to receive a 4-H Jacket for their achievement of placing 1st in a STATE 4-H competition, from the list below:

★ State Horse Show
★ State 4-H Roundup
★ State and National Shooting Sports
★ State 4-H Photography
★ State 4-H Identification or 4-H Judging team competition
★ Major Competitions: Win a class in any livestock competition showing under the title as a 4-H member at:
- Heart of Texas
- Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo
- Rodeo Austin
- San Angelo Livestock Show
- San Antonio Livestock Exposition
- Southwestern Livestock Show and Rodeo
- State Fair of Texas
Open shows are NOT included in this award.
Cost of Jacket
- The total cost of the Jacket will be sponsored
- A Thank You note is REQUIRED after the 4-H Ceremony
- Thank you notes are due OCTOBER 1st, delivered to the Extension Office.
- NEW: Thank you notes must be in an unsealed envelope with the 4-H Student’s name AND the name of the sponsor on the envelope.
- 4-H Members may only win a jacket once.
- 4-H Members who have won a Jacket in the past can purchase a replacement Jacket, at cost.
